Florence married J. Forest Jordan, ca. 1900. Their child, Dalton Forest Jordan was born. Florence worked as a nurse. She worked during the time of the grave flu epidemic. Florence was known to have saved the life of her younger brother, Carl Morton McKay, by caring for him when he was a baby. She cared for a lady that had the flu. She traveled with her on a long distance train trip with her and after which Florence caught it and died. A niece was named in her honor, who was her sister, Flora's daughter, Florence Signe Starnes.

Her son, Forest, died of polio, however it occurred after Florence died. Forest was cared for by the parents of Florence, Delilah and Ira McKay. MMcK

Florence and her husband separated or divorced, according to her sister, Floy.
