J. Rose Foster, 91, of Kittanning RD2 (Valley Township), died at 4 p.m. yesterday [5 Dec 1969], at the Armsdale Home, where she had lived since May. She was born June 1, 1880, in Echo, the daughter of Benjamin T. and Angeline (McIntyre) [McIntire] Geiger. Mrs. Foster was employed as a telegrapher by the Pennsylvania Railroad, prior to her retirement in 1948. She was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Kittanning. Survivors include her son, Harold G. Foster of Kittanning; three daughters, Mrs. Nellie F. McKeen [Milton William] and Mrs. Dorothy A. Evans, both of Kittanning RD 2, and Mrs. Ruby C. Steiner of Kittanning; one brother, O.S. [Oscar Shields] Geiger of Kittanning RD 2; three sisters, Mrs. Dessie Bowser [William Albert] of Springfield, Ohio, Mrs. Ella Schrecengost [Howard Torrence] of New Castle, and Mrs. Laura Weaver [Boyd] of Kittanning RD 2; 13 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
Friends of J. Rose Foster of Kittanning RD 2 who died Dec. 5, 1969, will be received after 7 p.m. today at the Merwin-Kennedy Funeral Home, Kittanning. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday (Dec 8) at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kittanning, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Thurau, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Union Cemetery, near Echo. Arrangements by Merwin-Kennedy.
