Wiley Harrison Cantrell was born 29 October 1897 to William Harrison Cantrell and Joanna Drucilla Waldrip Cantrell in Union Grove, Marshall County, Alabama.

When he was eighteen years of age, he married Millie Lou Graves 29 October 1916 in Marshall County, Alabama. Wiley and Millie had two sons; Walter Glenn Cantrell and James Henry Cantrell. Wiley and Millie divorced 12 December 1936.

Wiley married Mary Lilla Straiton 17 March 1937 in Cullman County, Alabama. They have one living daughter.

After his divorce with Mary, he married Mable Miller 7 January 1941 in Tennessee. Wiley joined the Army in 1942. He served 10 October 1942 through 30 March 1943. He served in Battery A 310th Coast Artillery Barrage Balloon Battalion during WWII. They have two living daughters.

Wiley died 8 September 1953 in Cullman County, Alabama. He is buried in Rocky Mount Cemetery, Marshall County, Alabama.
