William Harrison 'Tobie' Cantrell was born 3 July in Georgia to William Cantrell and Margaret Eleanor Wilson Cantrell. We do not know the exact year he was born. Although His tombstone says DOB is 1857, His mother was listed as single in the household of her father when the 1860 census was prepared. Somewhere through the years they lost track of his birth year as none of birth dates on the census' were consistent.


William married Telitha E Kuykendall 5 February 1880 in Marshall County, Alabama. William and Telitha had two sons. James Jefferson Cantrell and William Bannister Cantrell.


Telitha was victim of the flu epidemic and succumbed 11 October 1883 in Boaz, Marshall County, Alabama. She and her father were buried on private property near Beulah Church where they had church meetings before the church was built.


William married Joanna Drucilla Waldrip 10 September 1885 in Marshall County, Alabama. Tobie and Drucilla were parents to eleven children; Sarah Eugenia Cantrell, Mattie Cantrell, Prattie Kitten Cantrell, Roxy Myrtle Cantrell, Melven Cantrell, Wiley Harrison Cantrell, Maude Elizabeth Cantrell, Hattie Modell Cantrell, Buena Vista Cantrell, Hassie Lee Cantrell, and Hulett Welmer Cantrell.


Tobie died 29 April 1934 in Joppa, Cullman County, Alabama at age 72. He is buried in Rocky Mount Cemetery, Arab, Marshall County, Alabama.
