Hassie Lee Cantrell was born on July 31, 1908, in Marshall, Alabama to William Harrison Cantrell and Joanna Drucilla Waldrip Cantrell. She grew up in Marshall and Cullman Counties.

She married William Bruster Parker October 9, 1927 in Baileyton Alabama. They had eight children together: Jesse Ray Parker, Sr., Glema Alberta Parker, Ruth Edwina Parker, Billy Lee Parker, Robert Earl Parker, Glenda Fay Parker, Roy Edward Parker and Maxine Gay Parker.

Sometime in the 1950's Hassie and her family moved to Ocala, Florida. Hassie's husband Bill Parker died in 1964 at the age of 58.

She married Harold Earl Baker in November 1965 in Ocala, Florida. Harold died in 1972. Hassie died on May 12, 1994, in Bradford, Florida, at the age of 85, and was buried in Ocala, Florida.
