Marvin resided at his parents' home at 317 North 22nd Avenue West with his mother and sisters until he left for Charlotte, Michigan in 1927, age about 30. The Duluth city directory shows that in 1914-1915 he was working at the McCellan Paper Company. He held various jobs with paper supply companies over the years.
He went to training camp in the late part of World War I, but was discharged without going overseas.
The scrapbooks of Agnes Berg Rhode state that on 4 Aug 1918 he left for training school [presumably U.S. Army].
He was an ardent follower of baseball and played on local teams.
In late 1927 he went to live with his oldest sister, Ida A Newark in Charlotte, Michigan. He stayed and worked there for a few years until moving to Flint, Michigan where he was employed in an automobile factory until his death in 1958 at age 61.
He married Fannie White, a widow with one son, on 24 Nov 1944, when he was 47. They did not have any children.

Obituary from the "Herald" of Duluth, Minnesota dated 15 Dec 1958:
Marvin R. Berg, 61, Lansing, Mich., formerly of Duluth, died Saturday in a Lansing hospital. Mr. Berg was born in Duluth and graduated from Central high school about 1914. He left Duluth in 1928. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge in Duluth. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Olyne A. Berg, Mrs. Nina Roberts, Mrs. Stella Widner, Mrs. S. A. Rhode, all of Duluth, and Mrs. Laura E. Lambert, Virginia, and a brother, Sidney, Englewood [sic], Calif. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon in Lansing.

He married Fannie Emma Summers 21 Nov 1944 in East Lansing, Ingham, Michigan.
