He resided at his parents' home at 317 North 22nd Avenue West until he married Ethel Marie Logan of Superior, Wisconsin in 1918. He was not in a service in World War I. The Duluth City Directory for 1911 and 1912 lists him as a driver, and in 1913 as a laborer for the Zenith Telephone Company. In 1922 he began employment in the Northern Pacific Railroad's car shops on Rice's Point in Duluth, remaining there until he and his family left for California about 1932. Ethel went first, and Sidney followed a year later. She went first to establish residency so that when he arrived he would be eligible for California relief payments. In 1938 worked on one of the San Francisco Bay bridges. He worked for Hughes Aircraft as a compressor/air systems mechanic. He also worked in maintenance. He died in Inglewood, California at age 73.

Sidney A. Berg, 72, a former Duluth resident, died Sunday in Inglewood, Calif., where he had resided for the past 35 years. A native Duluthian, he was a former employee of the Northern Pacific Railway. Surviving are his wife, Ethel; a daughter, Mrs. Robert I. Johnson, Duluth ["Duluth" is crossed off on the clipping]; a son, Jay, Englewood [sic]; five sisters, Miss Olyne Berg, Mrs. S. A. Rhode, Mrs. Stella Widner, and Mrs. Nina Roberts, all of Duluth, and Mrs. L. E. Lambert, Virginia, and four grandchildren. Services and burial will be in California.

He married Ethel Marie Logan 8 Feb 1918 in Duluth, Saint Louis, Minnesota.
