She was a charter member of the first Seventh Day Adventist Church in Duluth. She worked for her father in his grocery store and for a number of Duluth firms as a stenographer, clerk and bookkeeper. In March 1920 her mother Grethe died. About this time she quit working for others and became the housekeeper for her brother Marvin, and for her sister Stella and her two daughters, Virginia and Elizabeth (Betty). She never married. Her nieces and nephews knew her as "Aunt Gussie." She was a sweet, kindly person. In her later years she suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. She died in 1967 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at a care home, aged 93.

Obituary from the "News-Tribune" of Duluth, Minnesota dated Tuesday 1 Aug 1967:
Miss Olyne A. Berg, 93, died Sunday in a Minneapolis nursing home. She was born in Duluth and had resided here all her life. She was the last surviving charter member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Sigurd A. (Agnes) Rhode, Mrs. Stella Widner and Mrs. Nina B. Roberts, all of Duluth; and Mrs. L. E. (Laura) Lambert, Virginia. Funeral services and interment will be in Duluth.
