Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in the Oak Community Church for Mrs. Pearl Gillan, 77, who passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Nelson Tuesday afternoon.

Pearl Gillan was born May 2, 1888, in Horton, Kansas, to John and AdaBelle Nelson and died April 5, 1965, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 3 days.
She was united in marriage to Edward Gillan on Feburary 28, 1906, in Seward. Mr. and Mrs. Gillan came to Nuckolls County in 1913, living on a farm near Oak for seven years and moved to Oak in 1920.
Nine children were born to this union: Claude of Fort Collins, Colo., Mrs. Hazel Widener of Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. AdaBelle Smalley of Nelson, Mrs. Ruby Snyder of Oak, Mrs. Darlene Fraka of Pico Rivera, Calif., Jack of Oak and Mrs. Betty Struss of Juniata. A daughter, Mildred, preceded her mother in death in August 1934 and a son Harold, February 21, 1965. Mr. Gillan died August 17, 1961.
Mr. and Mrs. Gillan celebrated their golden wedding on February 28, 1956, their family and many friends enjoying the day with them.
Mrs. Gillan was a long time member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge, Kings Daughters and Circle 2 of the Oak First Community Church.
She was a good wife and mother which was exemplified in her every day living.
Those left to mourn her passing are the seven children, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Davis, Mrs. Elva Thompson and Mrs. Golda Johnson, all of Chowchilla, Calif., and a half-sister, Dehlia Davis. of Soldier, Kansas, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the First Community Church in Oak on Saturday afternoon, April 9, at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Russell Wayland officiating. Mrs. John Scroggin accompanied James and Alfred Hanson who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
Casketbearers were Ned Anderson, Harold Stiles, Vernon Snyder, Leonard Scroggin, William Ferguson and Jack Montgomery. Interment was in the Edgar cemetery (sic).
