Ruby Emma Jerome Snyder, the daughter of Edward and Pearl (Nelson) Gillan, was born on April 1, 1913 at Cordova, NE. She passed away on June 28, 2004 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, NE at the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 28 days.
Ruby attended the Oak Schools and was a member of the First Community Church of Oak in Oak, NE. She was united in marriage to Harold E. Snyder on October 11, 1930 at Mankato, KS and to this union were born two children. Ruby was a member of the Royal Neighbors, the National Postmasters Association, enjoyed embroidery and loved to follow her grandchildren's, nieces and nephews activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold on June 15, 1998, brothers: Claude Gillan, Jack Gillan and Harold (Sonny) Gillan, sisters, Mildred Gillan, AdaBelle Smalley and Hazel Widener and one grandson, Daren Harrington.
She is survived by her son, Gerald E. Snyder of Lake Havasu City, AZ and a daughter, Karen and husband, Darrell Harrington of Nelson, NE, sisters, Betty Struss of Juniata, NE and Darlene Fraka of Pico Rivera, CA. Five grandchildren, Mrs. William (Sheila) Hobbs of Victorville, CA; Jerri Doege of Moreno Valley, CA; Mrs. Bob (Christie) Mirabella of Moreno Valley, CA; Nathan Harrington of Denver, CO and Jared Harrington and wife Michelle of Nelson, NE, 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 10:00 AM from the Frist Community Church in Oak, NE with Pastor Steve Matthews officiating. Music was "Footprints" and "The Old Rugged Cross", with Debi Garrison as soloist and Cloma Corman as organist.
Pallbearers were Nathan Harrington, Jared Harrington, Lee Miller, Jim Oltmans, Russ Snyder and Ed Brittenham. Honorary Pallbearers were Duane Drohman, Jr., Bob Griffith, Jim Craig, Jackie Miller, Brandi Eiseman, Terri Oltmans, Cheryl Jensen and Tami Sharp.
Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery at Edgar, NE.
