She was found by her daughter at 4 p.m. Monday 30 March 1992 at home, 1018 W. 6th St., lying on the kitchen floor, 911 was called and she was transported to Marion General Hospital, from there she was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN, and put on life support until she was seen by a specialist. The specialist told her daughter & son-in-law, Stephanie & Randy, that she was in a coma and had suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage, she was paralyzed on her left side, he could operate but there would be a considerable chance that she would never recover and asked us what her wishes were -- Mother had always said to never hold on to her NO life support -- we told the doctor to remove life support and let the Lord take care of her. Life support was removed at 10 a.m. Tuesday, 31 March 1992 and at 8:45 p.m. that same evening, Iva breathed her last, surrounded by her daughter, Stephanie; son-in-law, Randy; her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur & Joann Diskey. She was finally with the Lord and with her beloved husband, Joseph.
