John Ramsey Grubaugh was born in 1853 to Thomas Wilburt Grubaugh and Margaret Ann Cunningham. He was the 7th of their 10 children. Three of their children, however, died shortly after birth. John married Emma Jane Russell on 18 May 1876 in Loudonville, Ashland, OH. He died on 1 Apr 1924 in Perrysville, Ashland, OH. John and Emma also had a large family, with 10 children - all ten reaching maturity. Their children are as follows:

John Grubaugh dead
John Grubaugh, a highly respected farmer, died at his home west of town on Tuesday morning after a lingering illness. Aged 71 years, 1 month and 29 days. Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his departure the following children: Wilber, Howard, and James Grubaugh, Mrs. W. L. Mapes, Mrs. Cleve Jones, Mrs. J. A. Brubaker, and Mrs. Fred W. Haeferle all of Akron; Chalmer, Wilson and Miss Isabelle Grubaugh of this vicinity. Funeral services will be held in the Lutheran Church at Perrrysville on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev J. H. Kuhlman of Loudonville. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

John G. Grubaugh, son of Thomas and Margaret Grubaugh, was born near Butler, OH, Feb 2, 1853. He was united in marriage with Emma Jane Russell, May 18th, 1876. He departed this life at his home south of Perrysville, April the 1st, 1924, reaching the age of 71 years, 1 month and 29 days. He leaves to mourn his departure his sorrowing wife and the following ten children: Chalmer Grubaugh, Perrysville; Mrs. W. L. Mapes, Akron; Mrs. J. A. Brubaker, Akron; James Grubaugh, Akron; W. R. Grubaugh, Perrysville; Mrs. Cleve Jones, Akron, Mrs. Fred Haeferle, Akron; Wilbur Grubaugh at home. He had 20 grandchildren, 3 of which preceded him in death. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Andrew Grubaugh, Frederickstown; Reuben Grubaugh, Waterford; James Grubaugh, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Electa Hissong, Mt. Vernon; and Mrs. Christine Dobberstein, Ankneytown. Besides these, he leaves other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Grubaugh was a good man and beloved by all who knew him. Patiently he bore his suffering and died firm in the faith of his redeemer. Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. H. Kuhlman, assisted by Rev. Saeman, were held at the Perrysville Lutheran Church, Friday, Apr. 4th, at 2 p.m. Interment took place in the Perrysville Cemetery. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."
