Chalmer Franklin Grubaugh was born 26 May 1878 in Perrysville, Ashland, OH to John Ramsey Grubaugh and Emma Jane Russell. He was the oldest of 10 children born to this couple. He married Effie Ann Eddy on 19 Nov 1899 in Perrysville. They had eight children, all who are now deceased.

Perrysville - Funeral services for Chalmers F. Grubaugh, 77, who died Monday in Ashland Samaritan Hospital following a short illness, will be held Thursday at 1:30 pm at Byerly Funeral Home in Lucas. Rev. George M. Schrack, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church of Perrysville will officiate and burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Surviving are a son, Curtis Grubaugh of Perrysville; four daughters, Mrs. John Oney of Akron; Mrs. Floyd McFarland, Mansfield RD4; Mrs. Harvey Black and Mrs. Mabel Black, both of Perrysville; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willis Grubaugh, Perrysville, RD2; and Howard Grubaugh of Barberton; five sisters, Mrs Mae Mapes, Mrs. James Brubaker, and Mrs. Fred Haeferle, all of Akron; Mrs. Arthur Martin of Barberton; and Mrs. Cleveland Jones, Perrysville.
