Gotfred Flax, 72, of Ransom passed away at the Grisell Memorial Hospital there on Friday, January 31, after an extended illness. He had lived at Ransom since 1959.

He was born on August 8, 1896, at Pojana, Mikuli, Rumania, and married Catherine Weber at Ellis on January 19, 1920. She died January 20, 1967.

He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church of Ransom.

Funeral services were held from the church Tuesday morning, February 4, with the pastor, Rev. A.B. Dziemian, conducting. Interment was in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Ransom.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosie Flax of Ransom, Mrs. Raymond Schuler of Ness City, and Sister Corona Marie of Aurora; six sons, Ingatius of Ellis, Lawrence of Ransom, Myron of Papua, New Guinea, Leonard of Wright, Herman of Arnold, and Eugene of Kansas City.
