She was a homemaker in her own home and also helped other people take care of their homes. She waited tables for two restaurants in Ness City, Balloon's West and Saddle-Up. After she completed her Certified Nurse's Aid training she worked in the Ness County Hospital and as a home health aide. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society, both of Ness City.
On May 11,1948 she married Raymond Joseph Schuler in Ransom,Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 6,2008.
Helen is survived by four sons, Darryl(Judy) Schuler of Ellis,KS, Fr.Stephen Schuler, SYD, Bordentown,New Jersey, Allen (Vicki) Schuler of Ness City, and Myron (Dreama) Schuler of Tampa,Florida; three brothers, Lawrence(Betty)Flax of Dodge City,Kansas, Myron Flax of Victoria,Kansas and Leonard(Irene)Flax of Wright,Kansas; one sister, Mary Ann Flax of Lexington,Nebraska; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years; a daughter, Janice Jones; three brothers, Eugene, Ignatius and Herman Flax; one sister, Rosie Flax.
Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Church with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Ness City,Ks.
Memorials may be given to the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart School or for MAsses.
