He was born December 31,1924 at Arnold, Kansas the son of Gotfred and Catherine(Weber) Flax. He attended Lone Star Country School and farmed near Ransom,Kansas until 1970 when he moved to Dodge City. He owned and operated South Dodge Office Equipment where he cleaned and repaired thousands of typewriters throughout Southwest Kansas retiring in 2005 and moved to Hilltop Manor in 2009.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Knights of Columbus Council 2955 both in Dodge City,KS.
On August 5,1960, he married Betty Hoffman at Victoria,Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Dodge City; his son, Godfrey and wife LaShaina of Dodge City; 2 brothers,Leonard Flax and wife Irene of Wright,Kansas and Fr.Myron Flax of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister, Sr.Mary Anne Flax of Lexington, Nebraska; daughter-in-law,Lori Flax of Hatton, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; Kendra Flax, Brittany Flax, Daytona Flax, Justice Flax, KaBrena(Flax) Alexander and Ecco(Flax) Keener and 6 great grandchildren, Kayden Pope, Nathanial Lollar, Kacley Alexander, Madeline Flax, Kierah Johnson and Jonathan Keener.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Lawrence "Junior"Flax, 3 brothers, Eugene, Ignatius and Herman Flax; 2 sisters, Rose Flax and Helen Schuler.
Vigil service followed by Knights of Columbus rosary will be 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 22,2015 both at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City,KS. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 23,2015 with Fr. Aneesh Parappanattu presiding.
