Obituary -- Iola, KS Newspaper, 6 July 1939

Emmett Cleveland Oshel who was operated on for appendicitis at St. John's hospital two weeks ago passed away July 5, 1939 at ten past ten p.m.

He was born 24 March 1885 near Piqua, Kansas.

At age of 12 he with his parents moved to a farm near Critzer, Linn County, KS, where he grew to manhood.

August 18, 1906, he was united in marriage to Edna Leora Fields of Fall River, Kansas. To this union 11 children were born, six of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife and five children, Ronald Emmett of Iola, KS, Harvey Doris of Alma, CO, Ray Melvin, Nellie Fern, and Wayne, all of the home; one grandchild, Elsie Lorriene Oshel; five sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at the Waugh Funeral Home Friday, 10 a.m. Burial will be at Coyville, Kansas with Rev M. A. Good in charge.
