Obituary of Mrs. Jennie Hecox

Jennie E. Oshel, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Jesse Oshel, was born near LaFette, Indiana, 12 October 1867, where she lived until nine years of age, when moving with her parents to Iola, Allen county, Kansas, where she lived and grew to womanhood.

On 16 February 1887, she was united in marriage to John William Hecox and to this union seven children were born, Mrs. Blache Potter, Mrs. Edna Bradford and Ivan Hecox, of Hooker; Mrs. Wava Dye, and J. Hecox of Tyrone; Glen Hecox, of Haviland, Kansas; and Mrs. Ada Snook, of Drumwright, Oklahoma, all of whom are living, six being present at her last hours of illness.

In her early married life she was united with the Primative Baptist Church, of which she has always been a faithful member.

She departed this life, 7 January 1924, at the age of 56 years, two months and nineteen days. Besides her seven children, sixteen grandchildren, five sisters and four brothers, she leaves a host of other relatives, and friends to mourn her loss. Her husband departing this life three years ago, April 1st.
