Ethel Briggs, 95, the daughter of William Clayton and Della Ebright Strickland, was born June 11, 1903, on a farm near Republic. She died Feb. 16, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior.

She attended Hurley Country School near their home.

April 10, 1923, she married Ralph Briggs. They lived in Waverly, for three years, then moved to a farm south of Hardy. After his death on Feb. 6, 1971, she moved to Superior. She was a member of the Union Church, Womens Christian Union, and Helping Hand Club, all of Hardy and the birthday and card clubs in Superior.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Feb. 6, 1971; three brothers, Roy Strickland, Elmer Perry and in infant Ralph; a sister, Emily Ocobock, three granddaughters and a grandson.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Myers, Superior; and Mrs. Delbert Roper (Alta Faye), Webber; a sister, Mildred Hineline, Superior; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 20, at the Union Church in Hardy, with Pastor Dale Bussinger officiating.

Interment was in the Hardy Cemetery.

Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, was in charge of arrangements.
