Dad Farmed east of Rossville most of his life, until retiring in 1986 and moving to town. He was a member of the Star Lodge 709 AF&AM of Hoopeston, the Danville Scottish Rite and affillated with the American Legion Post 384, the VFWPost 4826 and the Moose Lodge 1227, all of Hoopeston. He enjoyed buying and refinishing antique furniture, collecting hats, mushroom hunting, cooking and his grandchildren.
Born May 14, 1918, in Alvin, Ill., he was the son of John Burton and Hester Carter Ingram. On Jan. 21, 1946, at Danville, Il., he married our mother, Mary Fern Sizelove, who survives. Between 1946 and 1963, Dad was blessed with 10 children (nene daughters and one son), Mrs. Don (DeAnna) VanGieson of Mobile, Al., Mrs. Kenneth (Bobbette) Gammon of Fredericksburg, IN, Mrs. Steve (Jackie) Maden of Potomac, Il, Mrs. Rick (Donna) White, Mrs. Sam (Sheila) Browne, Sherry Ray, Mrs. Gene (Pam) Rife, Mrs. Bob (Mary Jo) Ray, Cheryl Strawser, and Robert J. Ingram, all of Rossville.
Also surviving are six sisters, Emma Smith of Bismarck, Rae Schadeck of Chicago, Mary Jane Stayton of Urbana, Geraldine Clay, Margaret Ackers both of Hobart, IN, and Ruth Johnson of Homewood, IL. 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and five brothers.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Brown-Alkire Funeral Home in Hoopeston, Ill., with the Rev. Edwin Jernigan officiating. Burial will be at the Rossville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or USMC Sager Campus.
