AGNES FANNY came into the world in 1877. She never married and lived with Uncle Hendrick until her death. She used to come into Aylmer with him and sometimes would stay the week with us until the next weekend when Uncle Hendrick would return. She suffered from arthritis and heart problems for years. She was a good-sized woman and would grab you and smother you with kisses while pressed to her very ample bosom. When I think of her I can still smell her talcum powder. It was she who taught me to crochet, starting with wool and a large hook until I had practiced a lot and then went on to finer lace.
