He was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Miami County, the son of Fred and Clara Dunn Beets.
He married Mary Newton of Spring Hill on May 12, 1943.
Mr. Beets was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. After military service he returned to Hillsdale to farm the family homestead.
He was employed at Delco Battery in Olathe from May 1959 until retiring in October 1982.
Mr Beets was a former past master and secretary of the Spring Hill Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Cole-Smith Post No. 350- of the American Legion of Spring Hill.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers,Max Beets, Dean Beets, Robert Beets and Rex Beets, a sister, Vivian Mayes and two grandsons, Shane and Michael.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Beets of the home, three sons, Kenneth A. Beets of Olathe, Richard Beets of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Donald Beets of Spring Hill; three daughters, Mary Anne Myers of Raymore, Mo., Donna Wimbush of Paola, and Linda Borst of Wichita; two brothers, Fred Beets of Spearfish, S.D., and Bill Beets of Hillsdale; three sisters, Pauline Smith and Majorie Boehm, both of Hillsdale, and Jean Merrill of Logan, Utah; and 11 grandchildren.
A visitation was held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilson and Son Chapel in Paola. The services were at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, at the chapel. The Rev. Tom Wheeler, pastor of the Pearl Street Baptist Churh of Paola, was the officiant. Virginia Karr played the organ and accompanied Joyce Molina as she sang "In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace."
The burial was in the Hillsdale Cemetery, Masons served as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Spring Hill Lodge no. 56.
