She was the granddaughter of George Washington Sinclair of Orange County Indiana and Lucinda Cosby.
Carrie married Abraham King on 8 December 1904 in Dubois County, Indiana.
They were the parents of:
Wheeler George King 1st child born
One unknown infant born and died between 1905 and 1910
Leo Gradin King
Curtis L King 3rd child born 3rd child living (error?)
John Lyle King, 5th child born 5 child living (error?) and
possibly a newborn baby girl born in 1917 and raised by relatives in Orange County with the name of Chapel Gilliat. Family stories say that Carrie died shortly after a baby girl was born, and Chapel shows up in the 1930 census with Wheeler King as "sister."
A few years after Carrie died, Abe married again. His new wife did not want the boys from Abe's first marriage so they were all placed in an orphanage in Pike County, Indiana. His wife, Mary Eliabeth Enlow, gave birth to a son named Herbert and then Abe and Mary were divorced. Abe remarried again a few more times.
Family stories vary, but it is known that the oldest boys ran away from the orphanage and went to Missouri where other family members were living. They came back for the younger boys and went back to Missouri with them. As the boys became older, they began to move around and lived for periods of time in Illinois near their father or other relatives in Indiana. Chapel Gilliat is found living in Orange County Indiana with her brother Wheeler and his wife in 1930 but nothing is known about her after that.
Boys were placed in an orphanage in Pike County Indiana near Winslow.
After their father moved to Southern Illinois, the boys returned to their father.
