Clara E. Sinclair was the daughter of George Washington Sinclair and his first wife Mary Frances Newkirk. She was the granddaughter of George Washington Sinclair Sr. and Lucinda Cosby and of Elias Newkirk and Nancy Tillman.

She was one of approximately 20 children born to her father from his three wives, and this did not include the children from his 3rd wife's first marriage.

October 21, 1891 Clara married Edward Motsch in Crawford County, Indiana. They had a child named Mary in 1893. In 1900 Clara Motsch is living in Louisville alone with Mary and Edward is living with another family.

Clara died in Louisville from meningitis. The Kentucky death record shows Clara Motsch died in November 1906, the mortuary report has a June 1906 death date, and her headstone has a death date of Aug 5 1907.

This is definitely the correct headstone for the correct Clara. Her father and brother's names and dates are also inscribed on this three-sided monument.

She has also been buried with the name of Sinclair on her headstone. There is question as to where Clara is actually buried. There is also a Clara Motsch buried in Louisville Kentucky. Pending research.
