On Dec. 1, 1883, he was joined in marriage with Miss Cora Hoose, and after her death a few years later, on Dec. 10, 1890 he married Miss Emma Kemery of Angola, who with a daughter, Miss Burton, and a large circle of friends survive him.

Mr. Sickles was quiet and assuming in his ways, but as true as steel to his friends and obligations. For many years he was engaged in the mercantile business, and had a good name for fair dealing.

Later he served as a trustee as assessor for Pleasant township, and at the time of his death was serving on his second term as county commissioner. He served his day and generation to the best of his ability and will be remembered for his generous, unselfish life, not only in the home, but in the community in which he lived for so many years.

Funeral services were conducted in his home on Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the Odd Fellows, of which he was a member. Rev. Humfrey’s spoke words of comfort to the bereaved, and the body was laid to rest in Circle Hill Cemetery.
