Funeral services for Math J. Schlaefer, 95, of 230 N. Elm St., Campbellsport, will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Matthew's Catholic Church.

Bishop Salvator Schlaefer, the Rev. Austin Schlaefer and the Rev. Victor Kemmer will officiate with burial in St. Matthew's Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon today until the time of services at the church.

He died Friday, April 3, 1981, at home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1886, in Campbellsport, a son of Joseph and Barbara Koller Schlaefer. He married Mamie Berg on Sept. 15, 1914, at St. Martin's Church, Ashford.

Schaefer operated a jewelry store from 1911 to 1941 and was employed as an optometrist from 1911 to 1981. He graduated from Illinois College of Optometry.

He was a member of St. Mathew's Church and its Holy name Society, the Knights of Columbus, St. Lawrence Calvary Guild, Third Order of St. Francis, the American Opt metrical Association and the Campbellsport Lions Club. He was the past director of the junior band and the Campbellsport Community Band and was a former Boy Scout leader.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Bishop Salvator of Bluefields, Nicaragua, Austin of Chicago and Anthony of Campbellsport; four daughters, Mary of Milwaukee, Sister Cecelia of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Charles (Therese Weber of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. Rose Dreyer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Frank of Fond du Lac and Bill of Campbellsport; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one son, five brothers and two sisters.
