MR. SCHLAEFER
William M. Schlaefer, 91, of 136 W. Main St., Campbellsport, died today, May 5, 1987, at St. Agnes Hospital.

He was born on March 3, 1896, in Campbellsport, the son of Joseph and Barbara Koller Schlaefer. On Aug. 29, 1928, he married Mary I. Bell at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Town of Auburn.

Mr. Schlaefer was a veteran of World War I. He and his wife owned Schlaefer Hardware since 1943. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport, the church's Holy Name Society and the mixed choir. He was the director of the former Campbellsport Village Band, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Campbellsport American Legion Post.

Survivors include four sons, Leo of West Bend, William of San Jose, Calif., Mark of Campbellsport and Philip of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Dorothy) Schoofs of Germantown and Mrs. Richard (Denise) Miniskey of West Covens, Calif.;' 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his wife on April 29, 1987, seven brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, and at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Bishop Salvatore Schlaefer, O.F.M., Cap and Rev. Gerald Schmitz will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Capuchin Missions of Nicaragua, in care of Bishop Schlaefer.
