John W. Bohlken Died Wednesday In LeMars Home.
Farmed Forty Years In Preston Township Before Retiring.
Death claimed John W. Bohlken at his home, 215 Third Avenue N.W., on Wednesday, August 7, following a stroke. Mr. Bohlken had been in ill health for the past two years. Mr. Bohlken was born on a farm in Preston township on September 30. 1875, and was 70 years, 10 months and 7 days of age. He farmed at Preston township for 40 years and moved to LeMars five years ago.
He was united in marriage on March 20, 1901, in Preston township to Dora Beulow who with five children survives him: Albert Bohlken of Ireton, Ben Bohlken of Salem South Dakota, Mrs. Ann Towns of Long Beach, Mrs. Sam Brooks of Summit, South Dakota, and Lillian Bohlken at home. He also leaves three brothers, William, George and Albert Bohlken, and three sisters, Mrs. Sophie Aldrich, Mrs. Mert Gabel and Mrs. Ike Salberg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur and Fred.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, at one o'clock at the home and 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church in Preston township with Rev. H. F. Stief officiating. Burial will be in the Preston township Lutheran cemetery.
