Death Comes To Mrs. Dora Bohlken
Rites Are Held Last Saturday For Former Preston Woman
Mrs. Dora Bohlken, 73, a former Preston township resident, died in Sacred Heart Hospital, in LeMars, Wednesday night of last week after suffering a stroke the previous Saturday.
Dora Beulow was born June 18, 1876, in Pennsylvania, but her family moved to Clinton, Iowa, soon afterward, later coming to Plymouth County when she was twelve.
In 1901, she married John Bohlken, and seven children were born to them, three of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Bohlken died in 1946. They farmed in the northwest part of the county until retiring and moving to LeMars in 1941. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church in Preston township, and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid there.
Following the death of her husband, she made her home with her daughter, Lillian, in LeMars. Survivors, besides the daughter, include a son, Ben Bohlken, of Salem, S. D.; two other daughters, Mrs. Anna Towns, of Salem, S. D., and Mrs. Emma Brooks, of Summit, S. D., and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p. m., at St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. L. L. Belk, of LeMars, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
