Samuel Lewis Bowers was the ninth child born to Charles Lewis and Lena Eva (Falk) Bowers. He was born July 29, 1899 at Cushing, OK. In 1903 his parents moved to what was then Indian Territory and is now Harper Co. OK. He was only four years old at this time. He grew to young manhood on the family farmstead east of the present town of Gate, Beaver Co. OK. On November 9, 1918, he married Maude Eells at Buffalo, Harper Co., OK. She was raised in the same community as Samuel. Both he and Maude started school at "Roots" school near their homes. The school was named Roots School after the man who lived closest to the school. They resided in Harper Co. OK until 1935 when they moved to Idaho and lived in Caldwell and the Homestead areas. Sam and Maude resided here until their deaths. Sam died in October, 1984 and Maude in April of 1988. Maude had continued to live on the family farm near Caldwell until her death after Sam died. They were the parents of ten children, grandparents of 56, great-grandparents of 122 and at the time this information was being recorded, had 14 great-great-grandchildren.
