Melvin Bowers Sr.
Melvin H. Bowers Sr., 61, of Caldwell, passed away at his home of natural causes Tuesday, August 17, 1993. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 1993, at Knowlton Heights Cemetery, Caldwell. Officiating will be the Followers of Christ Church, Caldwell. Services are under the Direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mel was born August 30, 1931, in Gate, Oklahoma, to Samuel and Maude Bowers. He married LaVonne Gates, June 5, 1955, in Winnemucca, Nevada. Mel was a certified welder and had worked for Gate City Steele and Idaho Concrete and Pipe for a number of years. More recently he operated Bowers Pump Service which is now owned and operated by two of his sons.
Mel is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Caldwell six sons and their wives, Bob and Darnell, of Boise, Buck (Melvin Jr.) and Karla and Danny and Teena of Marsing, Doug and Darla of Nampa, Mike and Paula and Jeff and. Danitta of Caldwell; nine grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one sister, one son, and one grandson.
