Mrs. Lucy Waybright, 58, died unexpectedly Monday, October 2, while being taken to a Woodstock Hospital. She was visiting at the home of a son, Robert Simmons, after being released from Rockingham Memorial Hospital the previous Friday. She was born near Blue Grass July 7, 1903, a daughter of Henry and Lydia Smith Hedrick. She was twice married, to Hubert Simmons and to William G. Waybright, who died eight years ago. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Virgil Wagoner, Deer Run, W.Va., Mrs. Emory Fleisher, Moyers, W.Va. with whom she made her home and Mrs. Nelson Fleisher, Franklin, W.Va.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Rizpah Boyden, Woodstock, Mrs. Aida Arbogast, Harman, W.Va., Mrs. Katherine Vandevander and Mrs. Arlene Vandevender, Cherry Grove, W.Va.; two sons, Robert Simmons and Melvin G. Waybright, Woodstock; one step-son, William Waybright Jr., Jabba, Md.; five sisters, Mrs. Virgie Barkley, Monterey, Mrs. Media Barkley, Timberville, Mrs. Maggie Mick, Blue Grass, Mrs. Laura Vint, Circleville, W.Va.. and Mrs. Lonnie Nelson; two brothers, Okey Hedrick, Blue Grass and Garnett Hedrick, Port Republic. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 5 from Brown Funeral Home, Franklin, W.Va., with burial in the family plot near Blue Grass. The Rev. A.E. Johnson officiated.
