Alvi S. VanGorder, a well known resident of Perry township, died at 7 o'clock Tuesday evening, at the family home at VanGorders' Mills, near Wurtemburg.

For the past three years, he had been suffering from cancer, and a week ago Wednesday was stricken by pneumonia, which caused his death last night. The deceased would have been 69 years of age had he lived until March 27.

He was a widely known and respected farmer, and was a member of the Slippery Rock Presbyterian church.

Surviving him are his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Rebecca Marshall, and six children, as follows: Mrs Wm Hazen and Joseph VanGorder, who reside near the old home; Mrs. William Ferrell of Ellwood, Irwin J. of Bedford, O., and Misses Jennie and Birdella, at home. He leaves one brother James A. VanGorder of Slipperyrock township. The deceased was an uncle of Miss Jennie Aiken of Pine street, and a brother-in-law of Mrs. John Hyde, of this city.

Funeral services will be held Fri morning at 10:30 o'clock at the home, and at 11:30 o'clock at Slippery Rock Presbyterian church.
