Margene is my great-aunt.
Alice Margene Danielsen Peterson was born in Hyrum, Utah on Friday, November 20, 1914, the daughter of Henry Danielsen and Alice Laurene Jensen. Her mother died when she was eleven years old and she was raised by Maria Obray, her step-mother.

"Most of my childhood days," Margene wrote in her journal, "consisted of moving from one place to another." One of those places was Logan, Utah, where she met and fell in love with Henry E. Peterson. They were married on November 10, 1936 in the Logan Temple.

In 1949, they moved to Bountiful, Utah, where they raised their four children and where they were highly involved in the LDS Church and in the community. After nearly fifty-eight years of marriage, Henry passed away in 1994.

Aunt Margene was bright and nimble-minded and loved books and reading. A child of the depression, she always regretted not being able to attend college. She loved to dance. She was immaculately clean and her house always sparkled. She was patient, kind, and lived a life of Christian civility.

She was remarkably unselfish and supportive of her husband and her children. Her faith in gospel principles and promises was a quiet one but always secure and resolute.

Margene passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Orchard Cove Care Center in Bountiful, Utah of causes incident to age after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She resided at 867 East Maplewood Drive (1050 North) in Bountiful, Utah at the time of her death.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bountiful Tabernacle located at 51 South Main Street in Bountiful. Calling hours were held prior to the services from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m.
Margene was laid to rest following the conclusion of the funeral services at the Bountiful Memorial Park in Bountiful.

They were married November 10, 1936, in the Logan Temple. In 1949 they moved to Bountiful, Utah, where they raised their four children and where they were highly involved in the LDS Church and in the community. Mother was bright and nimble-minded and loved books and reading. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 7 at 10 a.m. at the Bountiful Tabernacle on 51 South Main, where friends may call that morning from 9-9:45 prior to the Service. Our family extends thanks to the caring staffs of Bountiful House and Orchard Cove (including hospice personnel) for their compassionate treatment of Mother in her declining years.
