The eldest of eleven children born to Samuel and Elizabeth Mumma. Married Augusta Rohrbach on November 16, 1875; parents of Allen R. Mumma and Mary A. Thomas. Augusta died in 1883. Married Mary Elizabeth Kennedy in 1884; no children.

A Resident of Sharpsburg Expires Suddenly
Mr. Daniel S. Mumma, of Sharpsburg, died very suddenly on Wednesday night at his home of paralysis. He had been hunting during the day and was apparently in good health. At seven o'clock in the morning Mr. Mumma breathed his last. He has been living a retired life, having been engaged in the livery business at one time.
He leaves a wife, Mrs. Bettie Mumma, and a daughter by a former wife, Miss Mary Mumma. Mr. Mumma was a half brother of Mr. Samuel Mumma, of Sharpsburg, and Clinton, William and Zichariah, of California, Abraham, of Boonsboro, and Jacob, of Mount Morris, Illinois, are half brothers. Mr. Henry Mumma, this city, is a half brother.
Mrs. Daniel Thomas, of this city, Mrs. Dr. Reichard, of Ohio, Mrs. Jacob E. Grove, of Sharpsburg, and Miss Alice Mumma, of Sharpsburg, are sisters of the deceased.
The funeral will take place from the house on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, services in the German Reformed church, and interment in the family lot at the Dunker church. Rev. Oarnahan will officiate.
