Tenth of eleven children of Samuel and Elizabeth Mumma. Married Frances "Fannie" Akin on March 15, 1888. Father of John Clinton Mumma, Jr., and Louise Maria Mumma.


Hagerstown (MD) Morning Herald, Tuesday, January 14, 1908:
J. Clinton Mumma, formerly of Sharpsburg, died on Sunday at his home, Dunnigan, California. Mr. Mumma is survived by his wife and two children, J. Clinton, eighteen, and Louise, twelve; brothers and sisters, Henry C. and Mrs. D. A. Thomas, Hagerstown; Wm. R., of Berkley, Cal.; Mrs. G. W. Reichard, Springfield, O.; Samuel, Mrs. Elizabeth Grove and Miss Alice, of Sharpsburg. Mr. Mumma went west about 25 years ago.


Woodland (CA) Daily Democrat, Wednesday, January 15, 1908:
The body of the late John Clinton Mumma arrived In this city Tuesday afternoon on the 3:25 train and was interred In the local cemetery. The services were held at the family home in Dunnigan at 11:30 a.m., Rev. T. G. Picton of this city officiating. The pallbearers were F. F. McCullough, W. J. Hemmerly, S. W. Barker, G. M. Cobb, N. G. Hughes and B. C. Hughes.
