Hagerstown Morning Herald, Monday, November 9, 1925:

Samuel Mumma, aged prominent resident of Sharpsburg, died at his home there Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. Death resulted from a complication of diseases. He was 87 years old. He had been an invalid for several years, and became ill in the sickness which resulted in his death a week ago.

Surviving are two sons, Wilmer Mumma, of San Francisco, and Victor Mumma, of Sharpsburg; six daughters, Mrs. E. D. Grove and Miss Frances Mumma, of Hagerstown, Miss Nancy L. Mumma, of Washington, and the Misses Carrie I., Helen, and Bertha A., at home; and one sister, Mrs. Cora Reichard, of Springfield, Ohio. His wife died many years ago.

Mr. Mumma was a member of the Episcopal Church of Sharpsburg. Funeral services will be conducted at the home Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock by the Rev. W. B. McKinley. Burial will be in the Mumma burying ground at the homestead.
