Second of eleven children of Samuel and Elizabeth (Miller) Mumma.

Barbara was the second wife of Jonathan Schindel. Married October 25, 1876. No known children.

Hagerstown Mail, November 3, 1876:
On the 25th ult., at the residence of the bride, by Rev. Mr. Long, Mr. JONATHAN SCHINDEL, of this town, and Miss BARBARA MUMMA, of Sharpsburg.

Hagerstown (MD) Herald and Torch Light, October 20, 1887:
Mrs. Barbara Schindel, widow of the late Jonathan Schindel, died at her residence on West Washington street, Hagerstown, after an illness of about two months. Her disease was originally a severe attack of indigestion, but the direct cause of death was diphtheria. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Mumma, of Sharpsburg district, and a sister of Mrs. Elizabeth Grove, Mrs. Susan Thomas, Miss Alice Mumma, Messrs. Henry C., Samuel, Abraham and Daniel Mumma, of this county. Mrs. Cora Reichard, of Ohio, and Messrs. Z. T., William and Clinton Mumma, of California. The funeral will take place this morning at 10 o'clock; interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
