There is an old Bible record in the Lincoln County Library that states a Mattie A. Holland died August 1894 at the age of 32 years, 3 months, and 10 days. This record also mentions a Thomas and Nannie HOLLAND. Mattie did have an older brother named Thomas. This has not been confirmed to be our Mattie.

There is also a marriage record for a Mattie A. HOLLAND to a James LAMB in 1894 at the Madison County, Alabama Court House. This is not far from where they lived near the state line. So far nothing more is known.
