Thomas "Dock" Holland, the second son of Benjamin Yarborough and Matilda Hamilton Holland, was born in 1852 at Pleasant Plains (Now Blanche), Lincoln County, TN. Not much has been found out about Thomas other than he was called "Dock" and was still living with his parents at the age of 18 in 1870.

The Lincoln County Library has an old Bible record with the name Thomas and Nannie Holland with no furthur information.

Land records show that he was a chain carrier (surveyor) for H.L. Patterson, a cousin of his, in 1877. There is also a record of him paying a poll tax in 1877 in Lincoln County, TN.
