Mrs. Wooten, 84, Taken In Death
Mrs. Mary Adam Wooten, route 2, Statesville, passed away at 1:30 Saturday morning at her home. Mrs. Wooten had been in declining health for two years and seriously ill since Christmas. Born March 24, 1870, the daughter of the late William McLelland and Prudence Hill Adams, in the Clio community of Iredell County. Mrs. Wooten attended Taylorsville academy and was a member of First Presbyterian church.
She was married to William Columbus Wooten, December 26, 1893, at the Adams home in the Clio community.
Mr. and Mrs. Wooten maintained their home on the Chipley Ford road all their married life, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past December.
Mrs. Wooten is survived by her husband: one son, Hugh H. Wooten, Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Miss Mattie Adams, of Statesville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wooten were held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Wooten home on the Chipley Ford Road, conducted by her pastor. Rev. Neil R. McGeachy.
Interment followed in the family plot in Oakwood cemetery.
