WILLIAM M. ADAMS DEAD
Native of Iredell Dies at Stony Point
Stony Point, Feb. 4 - Mr. William M. Adams, a prominent citizen of Alexander county, died at, his home in this place, rather suddenly, early Saturday morning, after an illness of ten days of acute rheumatism, aged 80 years. Funeral services were conducted at the home yesterday at noon by his pastor, Rev. S. L. Cathey of the Presbyterian Church, and the interment was in Stony Point graveyard.
Mr. Adams is survived by his widow, two sons and three daughters.
He was, a native of Iredell County, was born and reared in the Bethany neighborhood, and was the only son of the late J. Rufus Adams, He served throughout the Civil War in a company of volunteers from Iredell.
Some years after the war he married Miss Prudence Hill and moved on a farm in Sharpesburg township, where he lived till about three years ago, when they moved to their home in this place, which they bought and improved some seven years ago. Mr. Adams was a successful farmer, a broad-minded man, and was always up and doing. Personally, popular and was an all-around good citizen.
