Catherine Donahue Darcy

Catherine was the daughter of Thomas Donahue and Catherine Kennedy, married in 1823 in Muckalee Parish; she was the sister of George, Mary and Thomas. Her brother Thomas also moved to the USA and moved to Knox County Nebraska with Catherine and Michael Darcy's son Thomas P. Darcy.
Michael worked for 3 years as a coalminer in Wales during the early 1860s. He returned to Ireland and became a farm worker. He started operating the family farm in Coon, Co. Kilkenny in the mid 1860s.
Catherine Donahue married Michael Darcy in 1862. They had 11 children. Seven of them moved to the USA, beginning with Thomas Patrick in 1886, to Creighton, Knox Co., Nebraska. Thomas Patrick helped his brothers and sister come to the USA. Also moving to the USA was Della, Catherine, Sarah, William Joseph, Michael Joseph (my grandfather), and Anne. Staying in Ireland were John, Mary, Patrick and Margaret.
Both Michael and Catherine Darcy are buried in Coon, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland, in St. Bridget's churchyard. Grave Stones are shared, multiple burials are common in a grave to save space.
