John Darcy was the eldest of Michael and Catherine (Donahue) Darcy's 11 children to remain in Ireland, 7 came to the USA. John was their second son. A career police officer (in Cork and Portlaw, Co. Waterford), He married Catherine/Kate O'Brien of Cork. They had 5 children. Mary/Ann (Mae) b. June 3, 1909, who married Sydney Cox;Kathleen Darcy, b. Oct 17, 1910, d. July 4, 1973, never married'; Michael Darcy, b March 16, 1912 he married Margaret Dunne. Michael died Feb 7, 1942; Margaret Geraldint/Geddie, born Jan 1, 1913, never married; and John Joseph/Joe, born June 5, 1915, married Kathleen Molloy.
All of John's grandchildren carry the Darcy name. His three daughters did not have children.



The story is told that John Darcy came to USA in 1890, served as a policeman in Chicago, then returned to Ireland. According to Ted Donahue John became home sick for Ireland and return home. He had gone to Creighton in 1928 to visit Thomas Patrick's family, upon learning of his father's death he returned home. On his way home he stayed about a year and worked as a policeman in either Chicago or New York. He met Margaret Dunne in the USA on his way back to Ireland. They both returned to Ireland and were married there. They had four children Sean, Michael Patrick, Mary Catherine and Margaret Bridgit.

All of John and Kate's children carry the Darcy name ( none of their three daughters had children). 1. Michael and Margaret (Dunne) Darcy had four children, they were John/Sean born May 17, 1931, married Madge Byrne.
2. Michael, born Aug 8, 1934, married Cora Palmer.
3. Mary born Sept 12, 1937, married Terence Hoey; their children were Neal, Michael, and Patricia; Margaret Corry's children John, Anne Marie, Rachel, and Lesley.
4. John Joseph's family is in Belfast, N. Ireland.
Regarding the Belfast Darcy's a daughter Ann is a teacher whose travels have taken her to Africa, and also Ohio, USA, in 1984.
