Della's real name was Bridget, she changed it to Della after coming to the USA. Originally named Bridget and called Biddie (she found out that the name Biddie was used in America for Irish servant-girls it also meant a harsh, eccentric woman. Anyway she didn't like being called Biddie, so she changed her name to Della. She was born Feb 5, 1870 in Coon, Uskerty area, Coon townland, Muckalee parish, Ireland, near Castlecomer. She was the first of her brothers and sisters to follow her brother Thomas Patrick to the USA and he helped her come in 1887. Della (nee Bridget) arrived in the United States from Queenstown, Ireland, Liverpool, England to New York City on August 9 1887 aboard the Steamship Nevada. From New York she went to Creighton, Knox County, Nebraska by railroad. She married Thomas J Curtin in Norfolk, Nebraska in 1889. Della moved to Minnesota after the death of her husband in 1900. She had two children who survived infancy. Patrick Curtin born in 1889 and who married Agnes Cormier. George Curtin who was born in 1890, he died young and never married. Della and Thomas both became a US citizens in 1890. Della's husband Thomas died quite young. He died in 1900.
On Sept 20, 1902 she and her children Patrick and George were aboard the SS Noordland with her brother Michael Joseph Darcy and sister Anne (Annie or Anna Marie) Darcy, Patrick Curtin and George Curtin. Della was identified on the passenger list as Mrs. Curtin, who had been visiting Ballyragget, Ireland. Ballyragget, Ireland is locacted in Northern Kilkenny Co in the province of Leinster, about 75 miles from Dublin. She was a widow, according to the ship records. She was returning home to Minnesota after a short visit to Ballyragget. On the SS Noordland's passenger list Della reported she and her children were going home to Barnesville, MN,, which is about 90 miles south of Crookston, MN. Della and her sister Anna Maria continued on to Minnesota after a short stay in Creighton, NE..
Della married Thomas Mulvey in 1903. Thomas Mulvey was Owen Mulvey brother, who was married to Della's sister Catherine.
Tom and Della left Minnesota in 1929 and moved to Renton, Washington, in the Seattle area. Della and Tom Mulvey had one child who survived childhood, Francis Joseph Mulvey who married Mary Williams. Della and Thomas lived in Renton, Washington until their deaths; Thomas died in 1958 and Della died July 14, 1964. They had twin boys who died as infants. Melvin M Mulvey and John H Mulvey died as infants in Stephen, MN. They are buried in St. Stephen Cemetery in Stephen.

Francis and Mary Williams Mulvey had three children (Patrick b 1931; Maurine Celine b 1935; and Mary Frances b 1939).
Mary Frances married Michael Connors.
Maurine Celine Mulvey Bennett and her husband Jack Bennett live in San Raphael, California. Maurine and Jack were married by Father Joesph Francis Mulvey, Catherine Mulvey's son. Both of Della's son from her first marriage

Mrs. Thomas Mulvey, former long ago Stephen resident died at the age of 94 years according to advices reaching Stephen friend recently. Death was in Renton, Wash., but the Messenger has been unable to learn the exact date of her passing (added July 14, 1964).
Requiem services were held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Renton, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery there.
Mrs (Della) Mulvey was born in Ireland. When she was 17 years of age she immigrated to Nebraska and later moved with her family to Stephen, Minn. The Mulveys moved to Seattle, Wash., area in 1929 (others report they moved to Washington in 1935), where Thomas Mulvey preceded his wife in death in 1958.
Survivors included: one son, Francis Mulvey of Seattle; one brother, Pat Darcy of Ireland; one sister Anna Loser, Great Falls, Mont.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild.
