Paul Bernard Slavin nicknamed B or Ben was the second child of Tully Slavin and his second wife Jennie Hughes. Ben was the child who most resembled his mother in looks and temperament. His middle name was from his paternal grandfather Bernard Slavin. Ben had polio as a child.
Ben worked in the Office of the President of the New York Central Railroad a position which gave him a unique view of the railroad’s role in the WWII effort. He was a lifelong hockey fan.
Ben married Anna Louise Boylan on July 1, 1939 at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in the Bronx. They were the parents of two daughters.
His daughter remembers him as a true gentleman who was very kind, thoughtful and patient and a very loving father.
Ben retired from the railroad in 1960 due to health reasons and died on April 10, 1974, in East Lyme, CT.
