OBITUARY :
T. BARR STOOPS, 66, Chambersburg R. 5. died at 8.30 a.m. Monday while hunting in Old Forge area of Quincy Twp. with members of his family.

His death was attributed to a stroke, according to Dr. John P. Manges, Franklin County coroner. He had been in failing health since suffering; a stroke two years ago.

He was born in Waynesboro, son of the late Harry W. and Daisy M. Sheffler Stoops. Most of his life was lived in the Waynesboro area.

He and his wife, the former Janet M. Shockey, were married in February 1935 and had lived at their present residence for the past 26 years. As a young man, he was employed at Wavnesboro Knitting Mill. He and his wife later served as managers of the Wavnesboro Country Club for six years.

From 1952-62 he was employed at Landis Machine Co. and prior to his retirement in 1974, worked as a machine operator at Mack Trucks. Inc. He was a member of Soloman's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grindstone Hill. He was also a member of the Eagles Club Inc., Local 171 United Auto Workers, and a life member of the Mechanics Fire Co., Waynesboro.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Rodney B., Sr., Rouzerville; Darryl T., R. 8; A. Larry, Waynesboro; II grandchildren, a step-grandson; a great-grandson and these brothers and sisters, Mrs. Wayne Cluck, Gettysburg; Ralph and Mrs. Merle Sprenkle, Waynesboro; Harry M., Waynesboro R. 2, Mrs. Margaret Gonder, Mrs. Juanita Ruhl and Mrs. Glenn Wagaman, all of Chambersburg; Mrs. Willard Widmer. Folsom; two half-sisters and a half-brother, Mrs. Merle Tracy, Smithsburg, Md.; Mrs. Richard Helman, Waynesboro and Raymond Harty, Cascade, Md.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Grove Funeral Home, Wavnesboro, in charge of Rev. George E. Nein, Jr. Burial will be in Grindstone Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight.

Memorial contributions may be made to Soloman's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Box 239 A, Chambersburg R. 5.
