Commonwealth Reporter, Wed. July 24, 1940, p. 14:3. Peter J. Abler, 73, retired farmer, native of Empire, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes hospital after a few days' illness. Born Apr. 19, 1867, son of Peter and Mary Abler, he resided in Empire until a year and one-half ago when he went to live with his brother, Joseph M. Abler, Campbellsport, R. 2. Surviving are three brothers, Joseph, and Michael of Dallas, S.D., and John of this city. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the Zacherl funeral home with burial at St. Charles cemetery, Taycheedah.

Pallbearers were Peter and William Eggers, Thomas, Martin and Nicholas Abler and Lawrence Loehr. Persons attending the services included Mrs. John Worm and daughter, Virginia, of Wauwatosa, Lloyd Dyer of Cascade, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Oehlrich of Campbellsport, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Twohig, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Twohig, Jr. and James Twohig of Armstrong and Edward Roehl and Mr. and Mrs. Erving Roehl of Osceola.
