Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Aug. 31, 1929, p. 14:3. EMPIRE WOMAN IS DEAD. MISS BARBARA ABLER SUCCUMBS TO LINGERING ILLNESS AT FARM HOME. Miss Barbara Abler died at her home in the Town of Empire, R. 8, Friday night, after a lingering illness. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Kate Eggers, Fond du Lac, and Miss Lizzie Abler, Milwaukee; and five brothers, Matthew of Fond du Lac, Michael of Hamell, S.D., Peter and John of Empire and Joseph of Osceola. Miss Abler was a member of the Empire Social club and the Parent-Teacher association of Joint Dist. 5, Taft school, Town of Empire. The body will be taken to the residence from the Zacherl Funeral home at 5 p.m. today. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. from the residence at Empire and at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Joseph's church. Burial will take place at St. Charles cemetery.

Funeral services for Miss Barbara Abler of Empire, who died Friday, were held at 9:30 a.m. today from the residence and at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's church in this city, where a solemn requiem mass was sung. The Rev. M. Abler of North Dakota was celebrant, the Rev. J.J. Collins, pastor, served as deacon and the Rev. Francis Shea, assistant pastor, was sub-deacon. Burial was at St. Charles cemetery, Taycheedah. Pallbearers were William Reilly, William Fitzgerald, Charles Zamzow, William Fagan, Steve Koenig and John Cody.
