Esther Johnson, 68 passed away at the Aitkin Community Hospital on January 20, 1965. Funeral services were held at the Sorensen-Root Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 1965. Pastor R. C. Schlupp officiated. Interment was in Lakeview cemetery in the family lot.
Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of Axel H. and Augusta Enberg. Esther was born on October 26, 1896 and attended Aitkin county schools. On September 23, 1933, she married Sigurd Johnson in Duluth, MN.
Mrs. Johnson was a capable and pleasant lady who held a number of responsible positions. She attended a business college in Duluth and was employed as a clerk. Esther was also engaged as a seamstress in that city. In addition, she was the efficient assistant of Mrs. Helen Romanson, of Aitkin, MN. In this position Mrs. Johnson made many friends and extended her acquaintanceship in Aitkin. Esther was active in religious work and earnest in their endeavors on behalf of church and community. She was also an able worker on the thriving farm that she and Sigurd owned.
Survivors include one brother, Axel Enberg, of Duluth, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, who passed away in July of 1964, Esther was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and six brothers.
